ADOPT A PET AT PARKWAY PARADE
The Straits Times, 6 Jul 2002

Looking for new homes: rabbits Sweety and Alpha, who were abandoned by their owners in April this year.

They are among 12 rabbits which will be put up for adoption at the Pet Adoptathon at Parkway Parade tomorrow. Also looking for new homes are 20 dogs and 20 cats, which has also been abandoned.

The event is organised by the Action for Singapore Dogs, the Cat Welfare Society and the House Rabbit Society of Singapore, to get animal-lovers to adopt stray or abandoned animals.

It is supported by the Southeast Community Development Council, Parkway Parade and pet food company Nutro.

All prospective owners her to interact with the animals before making a decision.

Potential adopters will first be screened by the relevant society.

The societies will provide advice on basic health care and nutrition for the animals. There will also be follow-up home visits to the adopters' homes.

Experienced dog trainers will also give basic obedience demonstrations and talks at the event.
