HRSS Recent Rescues
4 November 2009
The past 2 months had been busy months for the rescue and rehoming team in HRSS.
We received numerous emails on request from the public on rehoming their rabbits and also SOS calls for abandoned rabbits found.
Rescue 1: Coco & the M Bunnies -
Pregnant female bunny found at Pasir Ris Park
HRSS received an email from W that she had rescued a female rabbit from Pasir Ris Park.
She had no trouble in picking up the rabbit, so we guessed it had just been abandoned recently. The rabbit was named Coco and apart from being malnourished and skinny, she’s in good health and we estimated her to be about 1 yr old or less.
To our surprise, Coco gave birth to 6 litters after 2 days being rescued. We’re thankful that she had given birth after being rescued as we couldn't imagine how her kits can survive if they’re born in the open. Sadly, two of the kits passed on days after birth, but the rest of the 4 kits seem to be doing great under Mommy Coco’s tender loving care. The kits are now slightly over 1 month old and we’ll be able to determine their gender by the age of 4 months.
Rescue 2: Sesame Street Rescue
HRSS received an email from BL to inform that a neighbour had been forced to rehome his 6 rabbits after being evicted from his landlord. The 6 are currently fostered by the rescuer and we had named them after characters of Sesame Street, in hope that they can bring joy and fun to their caretakers. The 4 boys (Ernie, Oscar, Elmo & Telly) and 2 girls (Abby & Zoe) are all in good health except for the 1 of the girls suffered from serious scabies. She undergone treatment with Dr Ling at Namly Animal Clinic and had recovered within 6 weeks.
