Try The Animal Clinic at Telok Kurau Lor L - ask for Dr Hsu Li Chieh.

Recently I sent MarshMellow for shaving off the heavy matted furs. He was put on anaethesia becuz he's also sterilised by Dr Hsu. One appt do shaving cum sterilisation.

I have enquired other rabbit savvy vet clinics but none offered shaving procedure. I even enquired with 1 specific rabbit savvy vet clinic and it is exasperating that the clinic staff did not call me back. The staff promised me to check with the vet but thereafter no news at all after obtained my particulars. Until today not a single response. Very poor service - kept clients wondering and waiting for a blank reply. I give up my changed impression. Initially was not so good due to past years experience, then I tried to be open minded but still I dread receiving no response reply.

The shaving wasn't a full shave one, so MarshMellow aren't shaved bald and so not traumatised. It's only the neck, chest, bottom, and hindlegs that are affected and I instructed the shaving to be short but not bald (meaning exposing skin surface layer). It will help esp. if the matts weren't properly managed for more than 6 months. MarshMellow grooming was more than 1 year never started at all. Handling the rabbit too long also stresses them, that's why I chosen to shave him when he was knocked out for the sterilisation.

The follow-up dematting works will be more relieved after the partial / full shaving is completed. But meaning caregiver have to be diligent in the follow up grooming else it will be back to square one down the road.

However a point to note is that rec'g anaethesia due to shaving furs may not be well accepted by caregivers who are concerned abt the negative effects of being knocked out. So you need to weigh the pros and cons carefully and determine if your bunny is in really need of shaving done at vet clinic.

After MarshMellow shaving, I had invested on a electronic shaver. I tried it on Fuzzy who is same mix breed as MarshMellow. It works fine though it goes slow but better than Marukan battery operated shaver. Sound generated doesn't have effect on Fuzzy. But my hands would feel rather numb due to the vibrating motor during operation. Rolling Eyes

Hi cwong,

I dont think there's any rabbit-savvy vets at SengKang, the nearest one should be Dr Cathy Chan @ The Animal Doctors at AMK Ave 5 . Hope this infor helps.
