Christina and HowChet were on their way home when they spotted Sherlock on the ground level of a multi storey car park at Spottiswoode Park Road. They took pity on Sherlock and called Directory Assistance 100 to seek help. Their first try was SPCA and lucky for Sherlock, no one answered the call. Another call to Directory Assistance 100 and this time, they were given HRSS hotline number – 7000-RABBITS (7000-722 2487).

This is Sherlock.

Sherlock gobbled down the Oxbow pellets but ignored the mint leaves.

He has trouble drinking due to Malocclusion.

We do not know much of Sherlock’s health condition other than the obvious and will update after a visit to the vet.

Sherlock's a real sweetie. It's sad that his previous owner did not know how to love him right.

Can you help Sherlock get back to good health and find him a loving home?

Ya, Sherlock really reminds me of Little July.

Sherlock has real bad malocclusion. There is abscess abv the top incisor. Hope it is not too difficult to treat.

Keep us posted KK

Sherlock is hospitalized. Vet gave intravenous fluid as he is very dehydrated. He weighs 1.4kg - undernourished because he was not able to eat or drink sufficiently. He will need to get the hair out of his lower teeth, flush out the pus on the upper lip and trim the teeth. Vet said he is too weak to be put under anesthesia and will discuss with Dr Chan tomorrow on what they can do to help Sherlock.

Poor darling. We will help to pray for him too. He'll be a handsome one once he is fully recovered. Get well soon, little braveheart.

It just pains me to see rabbits being abandoned and abused like this. >_<" And what pains me more is that it's mainly white rabbits that gets abused... I'm gonna go and hug all four of my babies later because it could have been them.. >_<"

Oh my! I wonder earlier did anyone does notice Sherlock to extend help to him? He's all alone, in bad health condition & if earlier rescued & brought to vet may help him get back on track faster....Haiz... Crying or Very sad

Will pray for Sherlock. Do update all of us as I'm sure we all are very concerned for him.

To all local & cross breed buns,
U may seem to be more unfortunate (higher rate of abandonment & neglect), but your character is strong & admirable. The only loss comes from rabbit lovers who do not appreciate for what u r. May abandoned helpless buns be discovered fast & rescued on time! Keep our eyes & heart alert...

If you would like to donate toward the medical or care costs of Sherlock, please send a cheque to House Rabbit Society (Singapore), Toa Payoh Central Post Office, PO Box 108, Singapore 913104 and indicate at the back of the cheque to "Sherlock".

Thank you for your support, we appreciate it. Also, I have some fund left over by Little Miracle, and for sure will use for Sherlock's medical expenses too, and for other bunnies who need help.

KK, thank god there is some devoted person like you to take care of Sherlock and brought it to the vet! It must have been tough on you to look after it. My rabbits only have sorehock and i was already finding it tough to handle! Embarassed

Judging from the picture, Sherlock has been abandoned for at least a week or so??

These are some updates for our Sherlock baby, from the vet :-

May 20, 2005
The xray showed that Sherlock has grade 5b dental disease which is the worse possible dental disease. This grade includes abscesses and infection deep into the bone. The vet managed to have a better look yesterday when he was under anaesthetic. he pulled through the GA well. He was placed on an IV drip throughout the procedure. The vet removed the 2 bottom incisors, 2 pegs teeth and one upper incisor. The other upper incisor not there. After removing the top incisor the vet flushed out the abscess and the hole is about 2cm in diameter and about 4cm deep. The infection is causing the bones in the upper jaw and nose to rot. The vet managed to remove all the dead bone, but afraid his tear ducts on that side may be permanently damaged. On the right side the upper cheek molar teeth were bad, so the vet removed one. One broke in the process of removing as it was already so soft. The vet decided that there was not much left to do because he had been under GA for about 45 minutes already so the vet flushed all that she could and woke him up. He is on high doses of painkillers. This is only the first step, the vet said he will due to have many more dental problems in the future, and therefore he needs a home whereby the new owner has to fully understand this, meaning more medical bills to come along way.

May 21, 2005
Sherlock is doing better today. He is eating pellets only and producing caecal poo again! he is also grooming alot now even though he has no teeth to groom. The vet gave him a groom today which he enjoyed. He is not eating veges at all, think he doesn't really know what veggies are. Anyway he is definitley brighter today and stomping his feet at the vet, he doesnt like the vet very much. He is also put on weight. He came in weighing 1.4kg and he is now 1.6kg!!

Anyway let's still keeping fingers crossed for him, the vet will groom him again tomorrow and she said Sherlock is very easy to trance!! Sweet boy !

More updates to come..

NOTES : Sherlock will be hospitalized at the clinic until the vet permitted him to discharge because he needs 24hrs care.
